Keep Praying for America
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn
from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Ch 7:14
In Old Testament times, God gave His people a rich and glorious
place to live. In return, He asked them to do only one thing. He asked His people to worship Him. However, they soon became much like
other nations. They took their eyes off God and began to trust in His blessings. When things went wrong, they turned to foreign countries and
useless idles for help. To Israel's dismay, their friends in other lands turned against them, their idols remained silent, and things continued to fall
apart. In the midst of all of this, God holds out His grace. He gives them warning after warning and every opportunity to come back to
His care. He promises that if they will just turn back to Him that He will heal their land. You know the rest of the story.
I do not know that our great nation as a whole will ever turn back to God in my life time. But I am confident that we
can see God's hand at work in our own church and community. This confidence along with the promise of God to heal and forgive helps motivate
and energized me to keep on shouting His praises. As we join our hearts and minds in praying for our nation and the election coming up in November,
may we never loose heart concerning what God is doing and is going to do in our home town and church.
